The news will come as a surprise to fans - last week, Duff insisted the couple wanted to wait a little while before trying for a baby.
"I think it was important to us that we had a year to just do whatever. And maybe longer than that because we enjoy having so much freedom. But we're thinking about it," she told Eonline.com. At the beginning of the year, she had told the website, "I'm only 23, so give me a little bit of time."
New family responsibilities aside, Duff is soon to start filming a remake of Bonnie and Clyde, in which she plays the title role. Another album may also be on the way: she said earlier this month that she has been "tossing around the idea". So one way or another, the actor has a very busy few months ahead of her.
