Thailand is aiming to clear up a ''misunderstanding'' with German liquidators after they seized Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn's airplane in Munich to recover debts owed in a bankruptcy case, according to the Thai Foreign Ministry.
The crown prince is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, 83.
The insolvency administrator for German builder Walter Bau AG seized a Boeing 737 belonging to the crown prince to force payment on a €30 million ($A39.5 million) claim against the Thai state.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman said the seizure ''stems from a misunderstanding of the German side thinking the jet was government of Thailand property, which it's not''.
