Up and comer ... Taylor Lautner. While addressing the room at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's annual luncheon in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Wahlberg, 40, made an interesting comment directed towards his pal Leonardo DiCaprio, 36, about the supposed decline of their mutual careers. Wahlberg claimed he is no longer as lusted after as he once was.
"I am sitting at a table with a gentleman who is better looking than you and is in better shape than me," said Wahlberg.
"So, we're both out of a job, dude. Taylor Lautner! We're screwed."
The room burst into laughter. Wahlberg seemed to be in good spirits about handing over the dreamboat reins to Lautner.
"It's over, dude," continued Wahlberg.
"Titanic and Boogie Nights were a long time ago. I accept it. I had a good run and on to the next."
Lautner was luckily in attendance and was absolutely paralysed with mirth after hearing Wahlberg's comment. Shocked, but ecstatic, Lautner was thrilled to hear such accolades coming from a man he respects so much.
"I don't even know the word to describe being here," said Lautner to E! Online.
"It's so odd. It's such an honour. I'm up on the stage and talking in front of people like that? The people that I looked up to my entire life? Hearing words like that from Mark and everybody it's just really surreal."
