The Computex trade show in Taipei saw ViewSonic unveil a 10-inch tablet PC that can switch between Windows and Android. The tablet will be powered by Intel’s new Atom processor, codenamed ‘Oak Trail’.
The company said that users will be able to switch between Windows 7 Professional and Android 2.2 Gingrebread, by merely tapping an icon on the home page on the new ViewSonic Viewpad 10Pro tablet.
The company reckons that users will use Windows 7 more than Android for business oriented applications, considering the popularity of Microsoft's Office suite, and then switch to Android for games and other entertainment apps, PC World reports.
ViewSonic plans to launch the tablet in Taiwan this June, but the company has yet to decide when the tablet will be available in other countries.
The Atom Z670 processor, which is also known as ‘Oak Trail’ was unveiled by Intel back in April. This tablet is one of the first to use the new processor. Intel has plans to take on ARM in the tablet and smartphone processor market, which ARM currently dominates.
The ViewSonic Viewpad 10Pro is one of the 35 tablets that Intel expects to use its new Atom processor in the coming year.
